William Hutton Prize Winner Announced
TVLS are pleased to announce that Nicola Sharp of Mortons Law, Sunderland, has won the William Hutton Prize for 2018.
The prize recognises excellence in trainee solicitors who are undertaking a training contract in the TVLS and Sunderland Law Society areas. Funding for the prize is provided from a generous bequest by local solicitor William Hutton who wished to help new solicitors in the region. The Law Society of England and Wales act as trustees of the fund, whilst Tees Valley and Sunderland Law Societies invite and judge entries.
Nicola undertook her law degree at Sunderland University, graduating in 2013 with a 2:1. She went on to successfully complete her LPC, with a Commendation, at Northumbria University in 2014. Throughout her studies, Nicola sought and performed work experience placements at local firms, and also completed a Higher Diploma in Paralegal Practice.
In April 2016, Nicola's experience helped her secure a Paralegal role in the Private Client department at Mortons Law, where she flourished. Thanks to her hard work and dedication, Mortons were pleased to be able to offer her a training contract in June 2017.
Nicola is now in the final leg of her training contract, working in the conveyancing department, and is applying to be admitted to the Roll on Monday 17 December 2018.
TVLS congratulates Nicola on being awarded the William Hutton Prize, and wishes her continued success and the best of fortune in her career.
