SRA Handbook
The SRA’s “Looking to the Future” consultation closed last month. It is the view of the Law Society that if the proposals outlined in the consultation are accepted it will enable solicitors to work for unregulated entities providing unreserved legal activities. This could leave clients with less protection and could result in a “two-tier” solicitor profession.
Over the summer, the Law Society consulted both solicitors and the public to gather opinions and evicence about the possible impact of the proposals. Feedback from these discussions informed the Law Society’s response to the SRA Handbook consultation.
More than 1,650 solicitors responded to the members’ survey, and over 1600 consumers responded to a survey conducted by Ipsos Mori and commissioned by the Society. You can view the results of those surveys here, and the Law Society’s response to the consultation here.
