Solicitors Qualifying Examination: Consultation Response
The proposed Solicitors Qualification Examination (SQE) will provide a new, centralised form of assessment to set standards for entry to the profession which will alter the way in which solicitor's qualify. The SQE will significantly alter the way in which solicitors qualify into the profession.
The Law Society is glad to see the inclusion of a degree-level qualification and two years work-based learning in all routes to entry but some concerns remain around information and funding which could, if not addressed, raise issues about access to the profession.
The consultation on the proposals closed earlier this month, and the Law Society's response can be viewed here.
