New SQE Gets Go Ahead

Following a two-year period of consultation and engagement, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has announced that the introduction of a new Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) will be implemented no sooner than September 2020.

The SRA are again consulting on the process, although the consultation closes in less than a week - 26 July - so if you wish to respond you'll need to act fast. The consultation documents can be found here.

The Law Society has produced a briefing document to provide a broad summary of the SQE, describing key points to be aware of in this latest consultation. The briefing is available here.
