Law Society Responds To IPO Consultation
The Law Society of England and Wales has submitted a response to the Intellectual Property Office's (IPO's) proposed changes to the law resulting from the Trade Mark Directive 2015, which must be implemented into UK law by January 2019.
The Directive is a replacement for Trade Mark Directive 2008/95/EC, and seeks to further harmonise the conditions for obtaining and continuing to hold a registered trade mark, so that they are identical in member states.
The Law Society are generally supportive of the proposed changes, which are largely technical in nature. The full response is here.
