Crime Contracts
The Legal Aid Agency (LAA) has agreed to revise the "embarrassment clause" as currently set out in the proposed standard criminal legal aid contracts. An update on the LAA's response to the pre-action protocol letter issued by the Public Law Project (PLP) can be accessed on the PLP website. The Legal Aid Agency is still on track to announce the outcome of the tender in or around mid-November and the Law Society is continuing to seek an agreed position with the practitioner groups on how to address the embarrassment clause., including the challenges they faced and how they overcame them. The stories should be of great interest to new solicitors, as well as to senior partners and practice managers who are keen to help newly qualified solicitors settle in and fulfill their potential.
